Corsage for a wedding & cake

I made this flower corsage for my coat from the hem of a dress I altered.
I took about 1.5" off the bottom.
The leaves are made of lace trim painted with my watercolour fabric dyes.
I bought the dress about 4 years ago and
never worn it because it was too long and needed shortened.
this is the back of the dress its very plain on the front
I even had one flower left over for my little handbag
Perfect for a wedding !
Me with Harry and Charlotte waiting on the happy couple!
I also remade a necklace I put together a  few years ago, it was designed to be a long or short with a toggle fastener but it was a little too short for comfort and the fastener to heavy that it kept making its way to the front. I changed some of the beads, added a few more in including the two large blue crystals,
to match in with a pair of earrings I already made and
added a magnetic catch now its my favourite new necklace!
it matched in nicely with my outfit.
 Adele and Mike
cutting the cake I made for their happy day.
The day was a double celebration
both Adele & Mikes boys,
Dakota and Cody were also Christened.

Cardmaking, Birthday gifts & Cake

I couldn't post this on Tuesday as I had planned as my sister didn't make it to mine on Tuesday for the EG meeting and only got her gifts on Wednesday.

As I mentioned in my post on Tuesday, its my sister Theresa's 60th  birthday, shes having a 'Hippy themed party on Saturday and we have been getting out outfits organised for that.
I went to choose a card for her a few days ago and couldn't find one I liked,
instead I bought this magazine......with free things
a book of papers and 2 sheets of card decals
I make the occasional card for  a special occasion but don't make them all the time, I used to a few years ago but there are so many stamps and inks and punches and cutouts etc that I find the whole business a bit overwhelming at the shows and so I opted out of card making a while back,
that said I decided to make a special one for Theresa with my freebies.

So I used one of the sheets of paper as a backing, some rik rak and lace a paper/sequin flower combination then attached all this onto a folded A4 sheet of pearlised card.
I made a butterfly from another sheet of the paper and added a couple of paper roses
then some ribbon to one of the tag decals with a 'with love' sticker from my stash
next some little music sheet flowers and seed beads

I'm pleased with how it turned out
and I also used them to decorate a wreath I had made for her from my sheet music.

two more butterflies

 paper roses from my stash
and some of the decals in the spaces

I saw a beautiful heart pendant on pinterest a while ago,
encrusted with pearls and crystals and made of silver at £85
it was a bit out of my price range

so I had a go at making my own version,
a sterling silver heart with a hammered finish and pearls,
crystals and diamante stones silver wire
in some of her favourite colours . .
teal chiffon ribbon looped on which allows it to be worn at any length
 I hope she likes it,
these are little icing flowers I made in advance for decorating the cake

which isn't made yet ... I will post pictures of it on Saturday.

this little lot will be going on cupcakes.

Purple Hearts

I made these 'Purple Hearts' earrings from a beautiful gift bag I received for my birthday.
The gift bag was from 'Willow' (I think) with some lovely Burt's Bee skincare products in.
I just loved the pattern on the bag and had it sitting on a shelf in my workshop until I decided to make it into something.

I just thought it was too good to just put in the paper bin!

Perhaps they would make a nice gift for someone.....

Jewellers Bench ~ Silver work

Back in June I posted about having a clear out in my workshop getting ready for change and never got back to posting the pictures I have taken.

This is my Jewellers bench, a birthday gift from Kevin Last year which for a couple of reasons has sat unused. However its up and running now and I enjoyed working on the first little piece to be sawn, hammered, soldered, pickled, stone set and polished on it!

It has been so long since I had worked with silver I was so out of practice. I need more days of playing around at my bench.
Here are some pictures of some of the silver work I did at college.
I have never shown these pieces on my blog before.

Iris pendant which is hand made in silver with a silk hand embroidered insert.

Iris brooch which has a machine embroidered insert.

Thistle brooch also with hand embroidered insert

Silver swirl brooch with silk fabric and machine embroidery on soluble fabric & added beads.

As you can see I really enjoyed mixing the silver with the textile I'm hoping to do more of this sort of thing again now that my jewellers bench is up and running.

It's turning cold here in Scotland, I felt I needed to brighten up my blog and give a brighter look, hoping to hang on to that summer feeling for as long as possible.........

Textile Beaded Cuffs

I really enjoy taking a stroll along Aberdour beach and I can't resist coming home with my pockets filled every time with beach treasure. I wanted to use these unique little pieces on some new jewellery. These little cuffs have been a long time in the making and I'm really pleased how each one has turned out very different.

Now available in my Etsy Store Boxoftrix

From the top left: Ocean Garden, Shoreline Stroll, She Sells Sea Shells & Cotton Candy.

Stitched Paper Pendants

I have been working on these little stitched paper pendants. First painting some paper with fabric paints then stitching over the surface, this created interesting texture, sometimes tearing the paper, I then embellished them with punched flowers, dragonflies & beads. I stitched them around tiny mirror tiles. The one on the bottom right is the only one made using stitched fabric.

These little pendants measure only 22mm square

I listed the three paper ones in my Etsy shop Boxoftrix ......One already sold....

More coming soon.......................
