Spring Sampler & Easter offerings

A little progress on my spring sampler 

I decided to try my hand at Portuguese Border stitch using this lovely Caron Wildflower thread called Raspberry Sorbet.

along the third line 

I enjoyed working the stitch which looks similar to Heavy Chain
 but is worked in a completely different way,

very enjoyable and easy going, 

most of this is worked on the top of the fabric

 love the effect of the thread too

this is the underside,

Unfortunately, once finished I realised that I had in fact stitched along the wrong row :(

so I had to snip it out 

not too laborious, 

quite quick really .... now I get to stitch it all over again ! 

in the right place this time :)

 Primroses on the top row I stitched the stems in overcast stem stitch

and leaves in buttonhole stitch  DMC 3348 lt yellow green thread

As Sunday was a busy day for us I didn't get to post a picture of the little Easter gifts

which we put together for our family

 Charlotte and I made some more of the little nest that she made at Nursery

We used High Bran cereal  mixed with melted chocolate cake covering, spooned into cupcake cases and topped with sugar coated eggs, delicious!

These were popped into little bags with foil covered eggs and little fluffy chicks and rabbits. 

The Azalea I bought for my Mum.

Easter week activities

I have been busy this week with a few different projects and things to do.

The beginning of the week saw the fridge taken over with these little creatures

 chocolate bunnies, I like to make these for the children in the family.

I also made Easter Eggs for us here at home but forgot to take pictures of them before we tucked in today opps :)

 I decorated more eggs to give as gifts too,

 I did each one in a different colour of beads and matching ribbon

 Yellow

white

 pink

 blue, green and red.

 They did enjoy a small spell on my Easter tree,

(again I forgot to take a picture)

 before being packed into my basket on Thursday

we enjoyed a family get together at my mums, a chance for the children to catch up

 and spend some time together.

The other packages in the basket are a two belated birthday gifts

Peek and Seek bags also known as (I spy bags) 

for my niece's two little girls, Grace (6) & Lois (3)

The bags are filled with barley and a selection of little trinkets beads buttons etc. Attached to the bags is a little laminated picture and typed list of all the little things you have to search for and find in the bag.

I have made a few now to give as gifts.

The 3rd blue bag on the bottom of the pile is a gift for Adam who is also 3.

 His party was on Saturday, Charlotte had a fab time, there were some animals there for the children to see, and get up close,

 some cute some not so cute, there was a little duck wandering about

 which had a nibble at her hand but she was'nt scared

 her favourite was the dragon.

There was also a tortoise,

  rabbit, cockerel, rat, mouse, scorpion, snake tarantula, very large cockroach, and a guinea pig.

So quite a busy week really :)

Today a spent a little time in my studio working on my tag for Tuesday

 ...the theme is spring cleaning . .  and has been a bit of a challenge.

Easter Tag

The theme for Tag Tuesday this week is Easter

This is my little offering

I made a little cross with the woody branch of magnolia from our nature tray,

the contents of which we collected on our recent trip to Dundee Botanic Garden.

 I bound the cross sections together with brown linen thread.

The little dove and crystal are from a wedding we recently attended,

 they were scattered all over the table.

The Lillie's are a printed paper cut out

The words Sacred Spirit are printed on a ribbon which was attached to a clothing tag.

Tag: Recycled greeting card, edged with purple iridescent Markal Paintstik

Embellishments: Wooden twig cross, Plastic dove & crystal,

Pre  printed organza ribbon & paper picture.

Tie: White thin satin ribbon.

Easter Flowers

I hope you all had a peaceful Easter Sunday

It was lovely and sunny here today in Fife.

 Our church alter was decorated with beautiful Easter Lillies. Spring green branches and daffodil bunches tied with white ribbon to the rafter supports added a beautiful simple touch.

After church our little one spent some time in the garden with daddy weeding and planting new things. It was lovely to see them both enjoying the sunshine.

This was a bunch of flowers which were showing signs of growing thin when I read Rhiannon's post about her flower table decoration I decided to do the same, I think it looked pretty.

I totally love this pale green vintage table cloth

 I picked it up at our local car boot sale last weekend for 50p!

Throughout the day I enjoyed working some more on my black and white quilt, but more on that tomorrow.

Easter Bunnies

Easter bunnies for everyone :o)

We are having an Easter Sunday family gathering at my sisters today. I made these little chocolate bunnies filled with mini marshmallows to give to everyone.
